Nearly every year, usually in the spring, suggestions would be made to clean up -- whether it be a storefront or their house. The year 1891 was no different. The editor of the local newspaper freely expressed his opinion toward the end of beautifying the village. The local newspaper was The Fowlerville Review, published and edited by G.L. Adams.
In more modern times, specifically 1968, experts from Sherwin-Williams paint company were hired to offer suggestions for a color theme to the village. More information can be found in my book, The Fowlerville Chronicles. The village now has a DDA (Downtown Development Authority) that helps to oversee improvements.
