1961 Tomion's Advertisement

Tomion's Dairy Store used to be located in the southeast block at the main four corners; where now you can find a sporting goods/hunting supply store sandwiched between Shear Image and an empty storefront. From various articles I've read, it was a place to get soda fountain drinks, home-made ice cream, and dairy-fresh milk.

Oh . . . and butter . . . as shown in the following write-up, found in The Fowlerville Review, helping to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the arrival of Ralph Fowler to this area. As you can see, by 1961, Tomion's had been in Fowlerville 39 years and counting. Below is a picture that was taken of the storefront in 1962, which can be found in my book, The Fowlerville Chronicles. If I may be so bold, there is a limited number of copies of this book available and I will not be doing a reprint -- so, if you would like a copy, please e-mail or call! They are going quickly.  And, as a side note, one of the descendents of Mr. Tomion recently donated some items to the historical collection -- those will be posted sometime in the near future.  Fun stuff.

In the picture of Tomion's store taken in '62...I love the parking meter! Fowlervilleites are blessed that the village doesn't charge to park any longer. Would it be cool to see if the village has one left so it could be on display somewhere?

Walt and Flora's granddaughter here. I am having a wonderful time showing my mother (Jean Tomion Hummon) these blog posts. Such great memories for her. Thank you for sharing all of this information.

I am a Tomion and it is so neat to read about other Tomion's. How am I related, I have no idea. Live in Florda for Winter time and Upper New York State Summer time.
