One day last week, as Elmer Trowbridge, of Cohoctah, was walking along the road, he overtook a mudturtle and, upon closer inspection, found the figure 1846 carved upon the back. He added 1896 to the inscription and turned him loose again.
The preceding blurb was found in the local news section of The Fowlerville Review in June, 1896. My immediate reaction upon reading this article? Where is that turtle and has anyone else carved a year into it.
