Squint Shot 053011

The following old picture, maybe taken around the early 1920s, was labeled on the back as '123 Hale Street, r) Edna Griswold house, l) Florence Evans house.'  I headed that way one day during my travels and took a current-day picture.  It would appear neither house stands but has been replaced by a small, neat little about 1,000 square foot house.

This is my great grand mother Florence Evans. After her husband died young and the depression hit she lost her farm on Owosso Rd. She moved her four kids to town and earned a living by taking in laundry and other odd jobs. This is one of many rental houses my grandma remembers living in around town. I have several photos of this home. If you look closely the house on the right is still there. It faces Grand Ave. I remember my great grandma's house standing until the 1980's.
