1885 Daylight Savings Time

How interesting that playing around with the "clock" is not something new.  It would appear many people have been complaining about setting the clock forward or backward an hour, and in past years 28 minutes according to the articles below.  So this is nothing new.

These articles were found in copies of The Fowlerville Review, dated September, 1885 - 126 years ago!
I've been wondering how that would be to have 'standard' time and 'local' time.  Did travelers in 1885 arrive half an hour early or half an hour late sometimes, not knowing if a city was on 'local' time?
